The city of Karlovy Vary is located in the west of the Czech Republic and is probably the most famous spa town in our country. Its history dates back to the 14th century, and since then the effects of local springs in the wider area have been discussed. He received this fact for doing so in 1401, when he was granted the status of an open city without fortifications. Karlovy Vary even appeared as the only spa in the Czech Republic in the first balneological manual from 1480.
As a result of several natural disasters, most of the local monuments date back to the period 18-19. century. Even so, there are real architectural gems in the city. With a picturesque walk around the river Teplá, visitors can take a full sip of history. Five spa colonnades, historic hotels and other gems are waiting for their admirers.
For more able tourists, there are viewpoints and lookout towers in the area, which are scattered in the spa forests.
The most famous sights include, for example, the spa buildings - Císařské lázně, Alžbětina lázně, which still serves its original purpose. The Church of Mary Magdalene, from the workshop of Kilián Ignác Dietzenhofer or the Church of St. Peter and Paul - even these religious monuments attract visitors to Karlovy Vary from distant regions.
